Collaboration For Education

By Martina Mgidi

It was on a chilled Friday afternoon when we gathered at the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory with the teachers, principal and School Governing Body for MC Wailer School’s strategic plan presentation. We received a warm welcome from the CEO of the Nelson Mandela Foundation, CEO of Thebe Ya Bophelo as well as our MC George Mamaila.

As part of the Developing Community’s Initiative that Thebe Ya Bophelo has undertaken to assist the school by way of mentoring them to ensure they achieve the goals that they have set. We gathered to discuss the strategic plan for Mc Wailer School; the principal delivered the presentation focusing on the long and short term goals that have been established. Thebe Ya Bophelo is taking a leading role as a South African company which integrates its business strategy with the aspirations of the community it represents.

The strategy plan presentation shows that the school is willing to change the traditional way of doing things and tap into the new and easier way of doing things such as being on social media and leverage on visibility. The school can achieve the goals that are being set only through team work and the collaboration with Thebe Ya Bophelo mentors. One of Thebe Ya Bophelo’s core values is that we are community centered therefore we reach out to the communities to lend a helping hand. Being able to assist teachers at M.C Wailer School ensures that a well-equipped professional will fully equip the future of all other professions.

As Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon to change the world.”
