New Faces at Thebe

By Sherole Webster

As we enter into a new year, it is with pleasure that we introduce new talent that has joined the Thebe family. Ensuring that we have the best people with the folds of the Group means that we have an added advantage and now fresh eyes and minds to help us reach Vision 2020. Over the next few weeks, we will profile all the new faces of Thebe.

The Thebe Investment Corporation Finance team has changed somewhat with the recruitment of two new team players; Mohsin Khan and Solly Maanaso. Busisiwe Mahlangu is the face that brings some change to the Secretarial department.

Born in Greytown Kwazulu-Natal, Mohsin and his family moved to Pretoria as the young Mohsin began to reach his pre-teen years. After completing his primary and secondary education at Hillside Primary School and Himalaya Secondary School respectively, he went on to get his accounting qualification at the University of Pretoria.

Having family members who were already in the field of accounting influenced Mohsin’s decision to go into the field himself after some extensive research. Although becoming an accountant wasn’t always the plan. He had initially wanted to go into Engineering but it seems the field of Science had other plans. After completing his CTA at the University of Pretoria, he joined PwC Pretoria to complete his articles. He then stayed on as an Audit Manager for one year, after which he then joined Thebe. When asked why he decided to join the Thebe Family, he had this to say,
“Firstly it was the great history of Thebe, being founded by such respected individuals.
Secondly, after doing my research on the Company, I understood that this no ordinary Company. It is dynamic and fast-paced, constantly increasing its presence within the specific industries it primarily focusses on.”
Mohsin’s role at Thebe entails accounting and reporting for Thebe Services. Additionally, he will be assisting the Group Reporting Manager with the year-end consolidation and the annual integrated report. Mohsin will also assist with ad-hoc queries at a Group level as and when required.

When Mohsin isn’t crunching numbers, he enjoys taking a road trip or two or even a flight to explore the world around me. To date, his travels have taken him to numerous destinations in South Africa as well as abroad. He has visited United States of America where he worked for 5 months between November 2014 and March 2015. While there, Mohsin visited Dallas, Las Vegas, Philadelphia, New York, Orlando (Disney World), Peoria (Illinois).

Let’s welcome him warmly to the Thebe Family.
