Caring4Girls has been invited to the inaugural Oxford Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) Conference on Wednesday 15<\/span>th<\/sup>June 2016, hosted at the prestigious St Hugh\u2019s College, University of Oxford in the United Kingdom.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the Oxford Menstrual Hygiene Management Conference Committee, the aim of the conference is to bring together global academics, researchers, activists, NGO\u2019s and corporate organisations to discuss some of the critical issues currently affecting the MHM field. The day, filled with speakers and interactive panel discussions, will enable greater dialogue to collaboratively progress efforts to improve MHM at an international level.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are delighted to see our programme get such international recognition and we do believe that it is crucial for Africa\u2019s voices to be heard in such global platforms. We are thrilled for caring4Girls to be one of those voices<\/em>.\u201d\u00a0 Said Richard Mabaso, concept innovator of Caring4Girls and Trek4mandela who has just returned from a two weeks visit to the United States to promote the Foundation\u2019s initiatives.<\/p>\n

From humble beginnings, Caring4Girls was established in 2012 in Luphisi village after Richard overhead a fearful conversation between his mom and his niece talking about menstruation.\u00a0 The conversation inspired him to start a campaign to demystify puberty while providing much needed sanitary towels to many underprivileged girls of South Africa.<\/p>\n

Mabaso is overjoyed that his vision of the initiative is not only inspiring South Africa, Africa and the world but it is becoming part of the global conversations to highlight menstrual challenges and collectively find sustainable solutions to make sure that poor girls do not miss school days because of the lack of sanitary pads.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is good to see the world engaging on matters that are aimed at the restoration of the dignity and empowerment of the girl child because it is said that taking care of the girl child is taking care of the nation. It was based on this context that the Mpumalanga Department of Education endorsed the Caring4girls Programme.<\/em>\u201d MEC for Education<\/p>\n
