The tourism arm of Thebe Investment Corporation (TIC) is concluding agreements with a number of rural communities and partners to develop and manage key and strategic iconic attractions in Mpumalanga and the Eastern Cape Jerry Mabena, CEO of Thebe Services Division, said in Durban on Friday (6 May 2016) \u2013 ahead of the Tourism Indaba in the city.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are also exploring other opportunities in areas such as Kwa Zulu Natal and the Western Cape as part of our expansion drive in the hospitality sector, under the umbrella of transformation-committed Thebe Tourism Group (TTG).\u201d<\/p>\n
Addressing guests at the 15th<\/sup> anniversary celebration of TTG, Mabena added:<\/p>\n \u201cThese new projects come on the back of our proven record of success in managing\u00a0 attractions. We understand that we have a bigger role to play than simply providing tourism services \u2013 which is why community involvement is a key part of the equation.<\/p>\n \u201cThat role includes the creation of these services where they do not exist,\u201d he added<\/p>\n TTG was established by TIC in 2001. TIC, in turn, was founded by the Batho Batho Trust, of which the original trustees were Nelson Mandela, Walter Sisulu, Reverend Beyers Naud\u00e9 and Enos Mabuza.<\/p>\n \u201cTTG is a leading light of true transformation in the South African tourism sector.
