On the 24th of September we\u2019ll be celebrating Heritage Day. It\u2019s a joyous day where every South African will celebrate where they come from as well as each other\u2019s heritage \u2013 we will look beyond or quarrels and embrace our uniqueness. It\u2019s a day that we celebrate the true meaning of being the Rainbow Nation.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

We all have different reasons to celebrate being part of this great nation and we, here at Thebe, want to share some of the things (in no particular order) that make us proud to call ourselves South African, (we only listed our top 30 things \u2013 one for every day of September).<\/p>\n

  1. Our language \u2013 from eish to lekker to ser-i-as to aikona<\/li>\n
  2. Braai \u2013 it\u2019s not a BBQ, it\u2019s a braai and you do it with wood<\/li>\n
  3. Boerewors \u2013 the smell, the taste, the juiciness, the everything<\/li>\n
  4. Rooibos \u2013 no other country in the world produces Rooibos tea<\/li>\n
  5. The big five \u2013 need we say more<\/li>\n
  6. The Cape Floral Kingdom \u2013 of the six types of floral kingdoms, fynbos only exists in SA<\/li>\n
  7. Nelson Mandela, Desmond Tutu, Trevor Noah, Mandoza, Evita Bezuidenhout, Miriam Makeba, Hansie Cronje, Shaka Zulu, Piet Retief, Ingrid Jonker, Thuli Mdonsela and many, many more great names<\/li>\n
  8. Bunny Chow<\/li>\n
  9. Our constitution<\/li>\n
  10. Thunderstorms<\/li>\n
  11. Sport \u2013 be it rugby, soccer, athletics or bowls, we love sort<\/li>\n
  12. Shosholoza<\/li>\n
  13. Vuvuzelas<\/li>\n
  14. Shopping at the robot (and calling it a robot)<\/li>\n
  15. Our flag<\/li>\n
  16. Our National Anthem<\/li>\n
  17. Our beaches<\/li>\n
  18. We\u2019re so great that we need three capital cities \u2013 Bloemfontein, Cape Town and Pretoria<\/li>\n
  19. Table Mountain and all our incredible mountain ranges<\/li>\n
  20. The Cullinan Diamond<\/li>\n
  21. Walkie Talkies<\/li>\n
  22. Afval, or tripe<\/li>\n
  23. Our music!<\/li>\n
  24. Our amazing people<\/li>\n
  25. Bloukrans and Soweto Towers for adrenaline junkies<\/li>\n
  26. Our abundance of nature reserves and magnificent landscapes<\/li>\n
  27. Sunshine<\/li>\n
  28. Sutherland and the big telescope<\/li>\n
  29. Jacarandas<\/li>\n
  30. Biltong!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    And one more for good luck, our national bird (at least it should be), the hadida.<\/p>\n
