Get set, go!

The Kaya FM 67km Relay for Mandela Day in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Foundation is a corporate relay challenge event in honour of Tata Nelson Mandela. Thebe wants to be part of the challenge by entering 20 teams. Here’s your chance to shine.

South Africans and the world observe Nelson Mandela International Day and want to do their 67 minutes of goodwill in honour of this great man. Kaya FM put their voice behind The Nelson Mandela Foundation’s principles of reconciliation, peace and education by launching a 67km relay race, where the station will stay connected to key corporate clients, stakeholders and listeners during the course of the day.

The Kaya FM 67km Relay breaks the mould for corporate relays by catering for the whole family. As a family radio station the event created an environment for families to spend time together and to have conversations on the life and times of Nelson Mandela. Over 12 000 participants took part last year which was double the anticipated number of entrants. This year will be no different.

In the spirit of reconciliation, the relay, which consist of teams of 10 people, creates camaraderie and social cohesion within South Africa and highlights social causes. The event has a Corporate Social Investment element, which acts in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Foundation to highlight special projects of the foundation.

This year the message from the Nelson Mandela Foundation is to “Take Action; Inspire Change; Make Every Day a Mandela Day.” Thebe would like to take up this challenge and invites all its employees to be part of this important cause. Thebe wants to enter 20 teams. These 20 teams’ participants will have access to the Thebe VIP marquee, and will have meals and refreshments provided.

Put together your team of ten and head for the polo fields at Waterfall Estate on Sunday, July 13, 2014, for a fun day for the whole family. Each team member will run 6.7km, with each 10-member team covering a total of 67km, in celebration of the 67 years Madiba worked to make the world a better place.

Go on, together we can make a difference!
