Club Travel Franchise “Food Frenzy”

Club Travel had an exciting opportunity to cook up a storm. Their ITC’s & partners in Durban were treated to a “Curry Cook Off” at Gecko Culinary Adventures. The event was attended by 14 partners and representatives from Holiday Factory and Zurich Insurance, including representatives from Club Travel which made up a total of 20.

The adventure began when the group was divided into 3 teams, who then challenged themselves to cook delicious curry dishes.
“The participants were divided into 3 teams of 5-6 contestants. Each team had their own cooking station where all the ingredients, pots, pans and stoves were made available to us,” says Marina Shaw, Franchise Sales & Support manager.

Team 1 experimented with delicious samoosas and naan bread, Team 2 tried their hand at butter chicken and cheesecake while Team 3 went all out with lamb vindaloo and sambals. Within each team everyone had their designated tasks. “While one person cleaned and cubed the chicken, another whipped the cream – it was wonderful to see the team work,” Marina added. “While cooking, teams went over to other stations and engaged in some friendly banter. “There was lots of chatting, drinking and being merry,” Marina laughs.

The prescribed 40 minutes went by in a flash and once everyone had completed cooking, the dishes were beautifully laid out on the deck for everyone to enjoy a scrumptious three course meal together.

At the end of the meal, the chef then announced the winning team based on a variety of criteria including how clean the cooking station was, the way the team worked together and of course the final result – how it all tasted.

The winning team each received a R250 Woolies voucher sponsored by Club Travel. “A huge thank you to The Holiday Factory and Zurich Insurance for sponsoring this awesome event,” says Jo Fraser, Franchise Director of Club Travel. “The evening served to be tantalisingly tasty and was thoroughly enjoyed by all.”
