Excellence Celebrated

The Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory played host to members of the Thebe Group as they celebrated excellence on 23 November 2015. In a ceremony that was intimate, nominees across the Group gathered to recognise the excellence exuded by both individual and company nominees at the 7th Annual Thebe Group Excellence Awards.

One of the Rookie’s to the Thebe Investment Corporation Executive Committee, Ms Nobuzwe Mbuyisa, presided over the humble gathering of 60 guests – admitting that her favourite category was indeed the Rookie Award given that she herself could be considered a Rookie. In her graceful manner, she brought guests to laughter with her understated jokes and charming personality.

2015 saw new members of the Thebe Family being nominated and even winning awards. Companies such as Thebe Turnstone Drilling and Thebe Mohebi saw their nominees taking home the Co-Builder and Rookie Awards respectively as nominated by their peers. Associate companies were also acknowledged for their contribution in living by the value of excellence with company awards. Thebe Unico was honoured as a company that drives transformation, which is an aspect that was one of the cornerstones of Thebe’s ethos when the company came into existence.

The true gem of the day was Thebe Stockbroking walking away with a number of awards including Best CEO, Most Improved Controlled Company and Individual Excellence. On this occasion, Thebe Stockbroking proved that with the right attitude and dedication it is possible to turn the business around and come out on top.

Jerry Mabena, CEO of Thebe Services, reminded everyone that excellence will always be celebrated and that the Excellence Awards should be seen as further motivation to push even harder to be the best possible version of oneself and be celebrated by one’s peers.

Living our values ensures that we achieve our bottom line; to build communities.
